Information Literacy Toolkit - Information Literacy Standards

students in classroom

Using various standards in both the design of the information literacy assessment instrument and the creation of learning resources helped the project participants focus on what students really need to know to succeed. See project performance indicators.

Librarians know that information literacy is not just a library issue, but sometimes it can be difficult to communicate that to non-librarians. Standards can help reinforce the idea that information literacy is important for everyone in every aspect of life.

Project funded through a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and sponsored by the Network of Illinois Learning Resources in Community Colleges.
